²² “Do not take advantage of the widow or the fatherless.^{(A) 23} If you do and they cry out^(B) to me, I will certainly hear their cry.^{(C) 24} My anger will be aroused, and I will kill you with the sword; your wives will become widows and your children fatherless.^(D)

¹⁸ He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow,^(A) and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing.^(B)

²⁸ At the end of every three years, bring all the tithes^(A) of that year’s produce and store it in your towns,^(B)

²⁹ so that the Levites (who have no allotment^(A) or inheritance^(B) of their own) and the foreigners,^(C) the fatherless and the widows who live in your towns may come and eat and be satisfied,^(D) and so that the Lord your God may bless^(E) you in all the work of your hands.

¹¹ And rejoice^(A) before the Lord your God at the place he will choose as a dwelling for his Name^(B)—you, your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, the Levites^(C) in your towns, and the foreigners,^(D) the fatherless and the widows living among you.^(E)

¹⁴ Be joyful^(A) at your festival—you, your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, and the Levites, the foreigners, the fatherless and the widows who live in your towns.

¹⁷ Do not deprive the foreigner or the fatherless^(A) of justice,^(B) or take the cloak of the widow as a pledge. ¹⁸ Remember that you were slaves in Egypt^(C) and the Lord your God redeemed you from there. That is why I command you to do this.

¹⁹ When you are harvesting in your field and you overlook a sheaf, do not go back to get it.^(D) Leave it for the foreigner,^(E) the fatherless and the widow,^(F) so that the Lord your God may bless^(G) you in all the work of your hands. ²⁰ When you beat the olives from your trees, do not go over the branches a second time.^(H) Leave what remains for the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow. ²¹ When you harvest the grapes in your vineyard, do not go over the vines again. Leave what remains for the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow. ²² Remember that you were slaves in Egypt. That is why I command you to do this.^(I)
